raul azevedo ramos
artist & writer
Raul Tabu is a sound artist and writer interested in the capabilities of listening as a means of inter and intra-community communication, the politics and history of noise, and oral history. His work reflects sound's connection with human relationships, memory, history, and places. The work includes audio documentaries, films, music compositions and field recordings. In these pieces, Raul seeks to establish sound as a storytelling agent by exploring different technical skills and narrative techniques that mould a stronger "rethorical voice". Some of his work comprises the film series Fake Memories, about echoic memory, and the sound collage Povo que Cantou, about ethnomusicologist Michele Giacometti.
